As the name FIRST Groups suggests, we at First Church Maumelle believe that spirituality should be relevant to living in this world. We believe that the spiritual life entails the pursuit of a relationship with God within the context of relationships of other Christians. We derive the practices of our small group ministry from Acts 2:42-47. Within this passage of Scripture we find the body of Christ ministering one to another in teaching, fellowship and prayer.
 FIRST Groups will meet twice a month. They will meet in homes and get together for about an hour and a half.
During a FIRST Group gathering there are a number of things that happens. ♦ People become acquainted with new members.
♦ People share in an interactive Bible study and discussion.
♦ People lift up the needs of group members and their families.
♦ People pray for each other.
♦ People experience God’s love and care through personal ministry. Outside of group meeting time, members pray for and care for each other. If someone has a need, the group steps in and provides pastoral care.
