Our Story

A Church For Maumelle

First United Methodist Church was founded in 1976 as a joint effort between four different denominations. It was the first church founded in Maumelle, and the congregation voted to become a United Methodist Church in 1987.  Our founding members were excited to invite people into relationships with Jesus Christ through serving the community and bringing friends to worship. Even today, First United Methodist Church Maumelle has a heart for the community.

The Church is The People

FUMC Maumelle has met in trailers and two buildings for worship over the years.  Our current building is a beautiful place.  Our church building houses worship, Christian education classes, a  Day School, and many community gatherings.  We are thankful for our facilities.  Yet, FUMC is more than a building.  The church is the people- the members and active participants that enjoy faith, fellowship, and shared ministry in Maumelle and beyond.

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Our mission is to transform ordinary people into powerful disciples of Jesus Christ. Together we are fulfilling that mission! Consider the power of Christ at work in our ministries. We have teams that visit prison, and other teams that provide food for homeless and hungry people in Maumelle and in Little Rock. Our Student Ministries do significant home repairs for Arkansas’s needy, elderly, and disabled. We offer worship services where people rededicate their lives to Christ or make a first-time profession of faith.  We offer tremendous generosity to different charitable organizations in town, as well as regionally.

Write the Next Chapter With Us

FUMC Maumelle's story is written one life at a time. Each person brings something different to enrich our ministries and make the church what it is.  Each person has their own story of being transformed by God’s grace.  There is a place for you at FUMC Maumelle.
