What We Believe
We believe in the saving power of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. God loves each of us before we are ever aware of that love. It is by grace through faith that we are brought into a two-way relationship with Christ. God's grace is extravagant and is offered to all people. We believe in the Holy Spirit which is God's living presence here on the earth. The Spirit empowers believers to live out our Christian calling and urges us to discover God's best in each of our lives. We believe in the authority of the Bible. In addition, we believe that our reason, personal experience and church tradition influence our faith. We believe in our community and do our best to be active participants in the life of our community.
Please join us on Sunday morning for one of our four Services.
The 8:15am & 9:30 Services are Contemporary Services held in the Family Life Center. They feature a live band and Praise Team led by Mark Farmer. Multi-media such as video and slides, as well as special drama presentations are also used during this service to bring the Word of God to people in a relevant and meaningful way.
The 9:30 Encounter Service is held in the Sanctuary and is a blended Service where old and new come together. Music is lead by Jennie Beard and changes from week to week. Traditional Hymns as well as Contemporary music brings the best of both worlds together. This service contains elements of emergent worship where the congregation can respond through experiential worship.
The 11:00 Traditional Service meets in the Sanctuary. This service features traditional hymns and other music sung by the Chancel Choir led by Emily Evatt with piano and organ accompaniment. This service follows traditional Methodist liturgy throughout the service.
First Church is dedicated to helping ordinary people connect with an extraordinary God, and transforming those people into powerful disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that everyone can find a place to call home in one of our worship services, whether mature, long-time followers of Christ, or just taking your first step toward knowing the Lord.
